Welcome to Cassiopeia - Five beamlines on one wiggler

I911-2 and I911-3 are the main MX stations. For more information see the left hand side menu. I911-5 has been used for MX but also for other type of experiments but it is not presently available for users.

Beam time applications

The call for proposal for the period autumn 2011 and spring 2012 is now closed, both for regular proposals and for block proposals. See the MAX-lab homepage for more information.

It is also possible to apply for Fast Access MX beamtime at any time. To submit a proposal log in at the MAX-lab homepage (DUO login) and follow the instructions (or contact us for more information). Note that with an accepted regular or block application scheduling is quicker.

Other Applications - I911-1 and I911-5

I911-1 is used for different kinds of scattering and diffraction experiments and also for courses in x-ray techniques.
I911-5 has mainly been used for macromolecular crystallography but also for other kinds of scattering and diffraction experiments.

Introduction

Cassiopeia started as a Swedish-Danish structural biology facility consisting of the beamlines using the I911 superconducting wiggler at the Swedish synchrotron radiation laboratory MAX-lab at Lund University. There are five different beamlines with different applications but the main focus is on structural studies using either crystallography or small angle scattering.

The beamline construction has been financed by Knut and Alice Wallenberg foundation, the Danish Biotechnology Instrument Center DABIC, the Swedish Research Council VR and by industrial support from AstraZeneca and Novo Nordisk A/S.

Introduktion på svenska

Cassiopeia började som ett svensk-dansk strukturbiologiinstrument som utgörs av de strålrör som använder den supraledande wigglern på I911 vid MAX-lab, det svenska synkrotronljuslaboratoriet på Lunds universitet. Det finns fem strålrör som kan användas till olika typer av experiment men tyngdpunkten ligger på strukturstudier med kristallografi och småvinkelspridning.

Strålrörsuppbyggnaden finansierades av Knut och Alice Wallenbergs stiftelse, DABIC, Vetenskapsrådet samt av AstraZeneca och Novo Nordisk A/S.
